This vast family domain of 20 hectares of vineyards on the coast of Baune is mainly located in Santenay. It produces in equal parts appellations in red wines of Pinot Noir varietal, and in white of Chardonnay varietal. Their jewels are the Santenay Maladière, primary cru in red, and the Meursault Charmes primary cru in white.
Once all the means to obtain the ripest and the healthiest grapes have been set, the making of the wines can follow. The white musts are obtained from a long and smooth pressing. They are then cooled, filtered, and put in oak casks. The wines will be left on sediments and beaten between 12 to 16 months. The vinification of red wines needs long pre-fermentary macerations to allow the fruit to give in the must the best of its aroma, fat, color, and tannins.
The fermentations last 2 to 3 weeks. It is then, that the savory and powerful tannins will mature, thanks to a long breeding in oak casks. The wines are stored in beautiful cellars, which will guaranty a brilliant aging.
The Maison Prieur has at least two years’ wine in stock, which allows it to offer vintages ready to be consumed or, if you possess a good cellar, the privilege to watch your excellent bottles of Bourgogne to ripen on their own. To be consumed amongst friends.
