The Estate
In 1919, General Henri Rebourseau grouped his father’s vineyards around the fine 18th century house. His son, Pierre Rebourseau then enabled the estate to prosper well into the 1980s. Today, the family estate is run by one of the General’s great-grandsons, Jean de Surrel. The Estate’s vineyards are typical of those of Gevrey-Chambertin, forming a real patchwork of soils.
Indeed, from the Gevrey-Chambertin (7 ha) that border the family estate to the 1er cru Les Fonteny (0.88 ha), or the 4 gems composed of Charmes-Chambertin (1.31 ha), Mazis-Chambertin (0.96 ha), Chambertin Clos de Beze (0.33ha), Chambertin (0.46 ha), the whole variety and richness of the soils of Gevrey-Chambertin are to be found within the Domaine Henri Rebourseau. All the more richness since the Estate owns that other gem of the Côte de Nuits, the famous Clos de Vougeot (2.21ha).
